Company History

Over the years Air Atlanta Aero Engineering has built an outstanding reputation for high quality aircraft maintenance services to many and varied airlines.

2000's: Air Atlanta Aero Engineering

The Air Atlanta Aviation Group acquired Shannon MRO from UPS in February 2004, and rebranded to Air Atlanta Aero Engineering. The company immediately announced plans to expand its activities through the addition of B757, 767 and 747 to the existing B727 and 737 capability. Air Atlanta Aero Engineering will continue the long tradition of expertise, craftsmanship and commitment to excellence that has been built up over the last 40 years.

1990's: Shannon MRO

The experience gained on the older aircraft types was instrumental in SRS securing the maintenance of UPS Airlines European-based B727 aircraft. From 1994 the relationship between SRS and UPS developed to the extent that UPS acquired the maintenance division of SRS from Aer Lingus. UPS renamed the company as Shannon MRO and built a new state of the art facility that enabled the company to offer a wider range of services to UPS and third party airlines.

1980's: SRS Aviation

In the mid 1980's the company changed it strategic focus and corporate image. It re-branded under the name SRS Aviation and entered the market for commercial jet aircraft maintenance. Concentrating on older B707, 737 and DC8 aircraft that required heavy maintenance inputs the company developed an enviable reputation for high quality heavy structural maintenance.

1960's and 1970's: Shannon Repair Service

Formed in 1962 by Seaboard International to provide groundhandling and maintenance services to transatlantic airlines operating piston engine aircraft. The company was acquired by Aer Lingus in 1967. During this period the company focussed on groundhandling services and general and corporate aircraft maintenance.
